JUST BU

In School Panels

Just BU In School Panels are delivered on campus to groups of between 150 and 300 students in Years 10, 11 and 12.

Just BU In School Panels focus on 3 “Role Models” from different backgrounds who share their personal story, with a focus on school based issues such as bullying, mental health issues, positive lifestyle choices, social diversity and positive self esteem and body image.

Just BU gives teenagers a forum in which they will listen to inspirational stories and experiences in life from current female and male role models.  This is also an opportunity to meet, interact with and listen to positive and successful female and male role models currently working within the wider business, corporate, entertainment and sporting communities.

By organising engaging and interactive panels within Melbourne’s government and private schools Just BU aims to inspire and motivate students in Years 10-12 to reach and believe in their potential and make decisions that positively affect their future. Just BU is aware of the issues that face many teenagers of today. It aims to address issues such as the transition from school to tertiary education, bullying, social diversity, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, positive self esteem and body image, depression and provides them with “real” experiences, tools, skills and outcomes to tackle these situations.

Panellists share their own personal stories in relation to school based experiences under the philosophy that “It’s OK 2 Just BU.”  Each panelist will share their experiences at school, their current and past career paths as well as providing advice for coping with the stress of growing up as a teenager which includes strategies for a healthy “school/ life” balance.

Through the Just BU Facebook page students are also given the opportunity to post questions prior to the panel. Just BU will also post articles of interest and “community expert” web links on its Facebook page providing students with access to relevant information and tips on topics such as bullying, positive life choices, healthy eating options, positive self esteem and mental health issues.

In 2011 Just BU Panels will be visiting these schools:
McKinnon Secondary College
De La Salle College
MacRobertson Girls’ High School
Mentone Girls Secondary College
Melbourne High School

Panellists include Charlie Pickering from the 7PM Project, Amber Renae from Project Runway, channel 10 news presenter Helen Kapalos,  Extreme Sports online host Nathan Strempel, Deon St Mor and many more.
